Pension Bhogi Sangharsh Morcha This organisation pays special attention to aged survivors, widows, orphans and others dependent on social security. Women form the majority of their membership of several thousand. They hold public meetings every week (usually on a Thursday) and organise demonstrations. Along with the other three organisations they are plaintiffs in the class action suit against Union Carbide Corporation and its officials currently under appeal in the Federal 2nd circuit in the USA. Balkrishna Namdeo, Convenor Bhopal Gas Peedit Mahila Stationery Karmachari Sangh (BGPMSKS) This is a registered trade union of women survivors who are employed to make of paper stationery as part of the government's rehabilitation program. It is a small organisation with 80 members. At one point in their struggle, members of this organisation, many carrying children in their arms, walked all the way to New Delhi (750 kms away) to press for their demands. Rashida Bi, President Bhopal Group for Information and Action (BGIA) This is a voluntary group set up to provide support to the survivors' organisations in their struggle. Formed in 1986, the organisation continues to work on documentation of environmental and medical effects, legal interventions against Union Carbide and the government as well as disseminating information on the continuing disaster in Bhopal.
